When I started my consulting business, Data, Design + Writing (https://lnkd.in/gFPcPNWW), I had no idea what to expect. I just knew internally that I needed to do what I
am good at and follow what feels right. I trusted that things would fall into place.
For the most part, they have.
I've completed some incredible projects with UNFPA, UN Women, Save the Children, Pathfinder, and the Center for Sustainable Development at the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh. I designed and wrote life skills training content for Bangladesh's national technical and vocational training program. I used my skills to educate others about air pollution. I've helped clients get articles published in Women and Birth, BMC Pregnancy and Childbirth, Global Health Science and Practice, and Sexual and Reproductive Health Matters. I've developed multi-country and multi-site dashboards that are not just functional, but also beautiful. I also partnered with Weeyacom LLC on an exciting review of th
e literature on workplace engagement and diversity, equity and inclusion issues.
Through this, I've learned what I am good at - structuring written content in scholarly formats, organizing and analyzing large amounts of information, and designing top notch data visualizations and reports. I've also learned what I'm not good at - being satisfied with the quick and dirty, and dealing with my own resistance to things like marketing. I'm working on and getting better at both of these.
Lastly, I've learned about what I want to get good at - conference presenting and medical writing.
Step-by-step. Progress always counts.
